Fat measurement with Harpenden skinfold calliper
In certain cases, like for instance the presence of a pacemaker or pregnancy, the measurement of body fat using bioelectric impedance is not advisable.
In those cases, the skinfold calliper is a reliable alternative. Harpenden is considered the reference skinfold calliper (gold standard) for measurements of subcutaneous fatty tissue.
Actually, when the measurement is performed correctly it has a high correlation to hydrostatic weighing, which is a valuation method for body fat.
